Expériences sur l'influence des sédiments du bassin d'élevage sur la physiologie de Penaeus stylirostris. Rapport des travaux menés du 26 novembre au 7 décembre 1955 à la Station Saint Vincent ArchiMer
Cochard, Jean-claude; Goarant, Cyrille; Boglio, Eric; Lemonnier, Hugues.
The influence of the soil quality of culture pond on the physiological state of Penaeus stylirostris reared in earthen shrimp pond in New Caledonia was investigated by the measurement of the osmoregulatory capacity and magnesium hemolymph concentration of samples of 20 of these shrimp captured in the pond and maintained for 24 or 48h in cages laid on the bottom. A first experiment was affected by the occurrence of a pathology caused by Vibrio penaeicida probably due to initial handling stress. The second experiment showed that the osmoregulatory capacity is depresssed as a function of the soil quality : the more it is reduced the more the depression is important.

Immunoreactive human growth hormone like peptides in tropical Penaeids and the effect of dietary hGH on Penaeus vannamei larval development ArchiMer
Toullec, J. Y.; Le Moullac, Gilles; Cuzon, Gerard; Van Wormhoudt, A.
Human growth hormone like peptides were present in Penaeus indicus as two molecular forms: one with a molecular weight about 25 kDa which is similar to that of the vertebrate growth hormone and a smaller form of 2 kDa. Quantitative variations of hGH-like peptides in different larval stages of three species of Penaeids (Penaeus vannamei, P. stylirostris, P. indicus) suggest a possible involvement of hGH-like peptides in the development. Human growth hormone (hGH) supplementation in the diet of Penaeus vannamei larvae seems to have a positive effect on the size and on the quality of the animals estimated by their resistance to salinity stress.

Variations des activites digestives en fonction des facteurs du milieu chez les crustaces ArchiMer
Galgani, Francois; Benyamin, Y; Vanworhmoudt, A; Cecaldi, J.
Proteolytic enzymes of hepatopancreas of six species of peneids (Penaeus kerathurus, P. japonicus, P. monodon, P. stylirostris, P. merguiensis and P. vannamei ) have been studied. Some of their physiological variations have been characterised. Increase in acclimation temperature of crustaceans enhances increase of specific activities of proteases. Variations of salinity does not modify specific activities, nor quantities of trypsin, nor electrophoretic patterns of these different proteases.
